Clive Cussler DEEP SIX First Edition

First UK edition, first print hardback of DEEP SIX, by Clive Cussler and published by Hamish Hamilton in 1984.

The book is in good condition (olive boards with some colour fading at extremities and bright gold lettering on spine) with some minor wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (rubbing and creasing to jacket edges, nick to corner). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. Yellowing to pages, otherwise tight copy. Spinal lean.

It is 1989. Off the coast of Alaska, an American coastguard cutter spots a ship, apparently empty and deserted. The sinister truth is that it is full of corpses, bodies twisted in the last agonies of death by poison. At the White House, the President of the United States anticipates the nationwide panic which will ensue when the link is made with the missing barrels of Nerve Agent S. Dirk Pitt is on a new case, the most dangerous of his far from peaceful career.

The search for the Pilottown, with its lethal cargo, is only the first step in an extraordinary series of events. Is there a set of rules to accommodate the disappearance of an American President? Can a stand-in convince the world? How is the KGB involved? What lies behind the vast Bouganville shipping empire? Does Soviet Russia really want disarmament? These are some of the questions which Dirk Pitt has to answer. And time is running out...
