DVD boxset edition of THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY, by Douglas Adams and produced by the BBC in 2002. Originally broadcast on television in 1981. All six episodes plus special features on two DVD discs. Episodes 2, 4 & 6 are longer than originally broadcast.

The item is in very good condition with some minor wear to the outer box (couple of short tears to corners). The inner packaging shows very little, if any, signs of wear.

When originally produced on the radio in 1977 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy received huge critical acclaim. The first novel appeared in 1979 and launched Douglas Adams's lucrative writing career. Six episodes were written for the radio before Adams was asked to do soemthing which followers of the series thought impossible - a filmed version for television. Nevertheless, it went ahead, and in 1981 the programme won two BAFTAs for graphics and sound.

Douglas Adams died suddenly in May 2001, aged only 49. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy stands as a testament to his creativity, humour and vision.
