Colin Calderwood is a Scottish football player and coach who made over 150 league appearances for Swindon Town and Tottenham Hotspur. He was a regular player for the Scotland national football team during the late 1990s, appearing in two major tournaments. Calderwood retired as a player in 2001.
Calderwood became manager of Northampton Town in 2003, guiding the club to promotion in 2006. He then became manager of Nottingham Forest, helping the club win promotion in 2008. Calderwood was sacked by Forest in December 2008 and then moved to Newcastle United, working as first team coach.
After a year with Newcastle, Calderwood became a manager again by moving to Hibernian, but he was sacked after just over a year in that job. In November 2011 he was appointed as Chris Hughton's assistant manager at Birmingham City. Calderwood followed Hughton to Norwich City in June 2012, and left the club when Hughton was dismissed in April 2014.
"From Pitt's pioneers to Macari's Red & White Army, Swindon Town FC has inspired one team after another to don the colours that have given the Club its name, and local people a rare sense of pride and purpose. A child of the railway age, Swindon has often been in vanguard of social progress - in model homes for the workforce, in the embryo health service that started here, and in the conviction of a cleric that football would enhance the Sabbath.
Reverend William Pitt organised the first game, on 12 November 1881, at Bradford's Field in Old Town, between the Spartans of Old Swindon and St Mark's Young Men's Friendly Society. They drew 2-2 and joined forces to become Swindon Football Club...
Here is the story of the Club, of the men who made it, on and off the field, and of the trials and triumphs of eleven decades of fine football."
