First edition first print hardback of HOT MONEY by Dick Francis and published by Michael Joseph in 1987. Signed by Francis on the half title page.

The book is in very good condition (black cloth boards with silver lettering to spine) with no significant wear apart from some tanning around the page edges. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has minor shelf wear. Internally the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Moira Pembroke, avaricious and calculating, is brutally murdered, her face pushed down into a sack of potting compost. Her husband, multi-millionaire Malcolm Pembroke, is a man of strong passions whose colourful life has included five wives and nine children. Moira was his fifth wife and their marriage estranged Malcolm form his favourite son, Ian. But it is to Ian that Malcolm now turns for help.

They agree to meet at Newmarket Yearling Sales and instantly the two men are whirled into what turns out to be a horrifying race to find Moira's murderer before the maniac can strike again. Greed, malice and lethal ploys lie ahead of father and son as they track the killer remorselessly.

Hot Money is an enthralling novel, concerned not only with the chase and the complex relationship between Malcolm and Ian, but also with the right of anyone to do what they like with their own wealth.
