First UK edition, first print hardback of BELLMAN AND TRUE, by Desmond Lowden and published by Eyre Methuen Limited, London, 1975. Signed and inscribed by Desmond Lowden on the front endpaper. Complete with erratum slip on the copyright page.The book is in very good condition (Clean brown cloth boards with gilt lettering on the spine which has only minor creasing to the edges) with only slight wear to the dust jacket, which is not price clipped (minor creasing to the edges, a small closed tear to the top corner at the back). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions. There is minor tanning to the pages.

Desmond Lowden wrote plays and scripts for television. He won Silver Daggers for Fiction for The Shadow Run in 1989. Bellman and True was made into a film in 1987 and directed by Richard Loncraine, starring Bernard Hill, Derek Newark, and Richard Hope. It was originally a 3 part TV series, with a runtime of 150 mins (approx) but a cut down version of the series was released as a 112 minute feature film.
