First edition, first print hardback of COTTAGE ON A CLIFF by Derek Tangye and published by Michael Joseph in 1972. Signed, dated and located with a personal message to a previous owner by Derek and Jeannie Tangye on the front endpaper.

The book is in very good condition (green cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with creasing and rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket that has light creasing to the top of the front and back covers and inner flaps with slightly heavier creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The page edges are lightly age spotted. Internally, the pages are lightly age tanned but tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Derek Tangye's books about his idyllic life with his wife, Jeannie, on a flower farm near Land's End have delighted many readers. Cottage on a Cliff continues the much loved story which started with A Gull on the Roof.

He looks back on the difficulties he and Jeannie endured when they left high-powered and sophisticated careers in London (he in MI5 and she as Press Officer to the Savoy Hotel Group) to come to Cornwall, among many others.
