First edition first print hardback of IN TEARING HASTE (Letters Between Deborah Devonshire and Patrick Leigh Fermor), edited by Charlotte Mosley and published by John Murray in 2008. Signed to a previous owner by Mosley, Devonshire and Fermor on the title page. Numberline is a single digit '1' indicating that the book is a first printing.

The book is in near fine condition (blue boards with silver lettering to spine) with light bumping here and there. The book is in a near fine unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the corners. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

In 1956, Deborah, Duchess of Devonshire - youngest of the six Mitford sisters - invited the writer and war hero Patrick Leigh Fermor to visit Lismore Castle, in Ireland. This halcyon visit sparked off a deep friendship and a lifelong exchange of highly entertaining letters.
