Ironhands Daughter is the first book of The Hawk Queen - a sweeping epic of heroic fantasy
"The world turned and changed. The warlike highland tribes had lost their independence at the bloody battle of Colden Moor, and now lived in surly subservience to the Outlanders. Of the line of kings only a teenage girl was left.
Sigarni. Sigarni the silver-haired. Huntress, whore, princess; all of these she was called.
Those who pierce the veil of the future - mystics, fortune-tellers - know that a leader is coming to the North. A leader descended from Ironhand, mightiest of the highland kings. The Outlander Baron Gottasson seeks an excuse to wage war on the highlands, clearing them of men, women and children in a final 'victory'. But he could never suppose that the struggle for ownership of a hawk might uncover that very leader, whose iron resolve would shake the Outlanders to the core.
