First edition first print hardback of THE PRIVATE LIFE OF PLANTS (A Natural History of Plant Behaviour) by David Attenborough and published by BBC Books in 1995. Signed (to a previous owner) by Attenborough on the half title page.

The book is in very good condition (red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with light bumping here and there. The first 30 pages have been cut slightly smaller (by a few milimetres) than the rest of the pages due to an error during production. No text is affected. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the edges. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no other inscriptions.

Based on the immensely popular six-part BBC programme, this book offers what writer/filmmaker David Attenborough is best known for delivering: an intimate view of the natural world wherein a multitude of miniature dramas unfold. In the programme and book, both titled The Private Life of Plants, Attenborough treks through rainforests, mountain ranges, deserts, beaches, and home gardens to show us things we might never have suspected about the vegetation that surrounds us.
