David and Jean Hewitt GEORGE BURTON: A STUDY IN CONTRADICTIONS First Edition Double Signed

First edition first print hardback of GEORGE BURTON: A STUDY IN CONTRADICTIONS by David and Jean Hewitt and published by Hodder and Stoughton Limited in 1969. Signed by David and Jean Hewitt on the title page.

The book is in very good condition (blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with light creasing to the head and tail of the spine, light age tanning to the pages and page edges which also have some light foxing to the top. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the top edge of the back cover and head and tail of the spine. Internally the last few pages have some light folding creases to the top corners but the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

George Burton challenged the assumptions of many of us. Everything about George was 10 feet tall, his adventures, his disasters, his good points and bad ones, all seeming larger than life. This book explores them all.

190 pages including black & white photographs and Foreword by David Sheppard, plus Author's Preface.
