Cover illustration by Cliff Nielsen.The book is in near fine condition (Clean red cloth boards with white lettering on the spine) with only minor wear to the pictorial dust jacket, which is not price clipped (very light creasing to the edges). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no other inscriptions.
Born in London in 1972, Darren Shan (real name Darren O'Shaughnessy) has lived in Ireland since the age of six. He completed his first novel, Mute Pursuit, at just 17. Over the years that followed he juggled his writing with college and work, averaging a book a year, before leaving his job to write full time.
He is the number-one bestselling author of the young adult series Cirque du Freak, The Demonata and The Saga of Larten Crepsley, as well as the stand-alone books, The Thin Executioner and Koyasan. Shan's books have sold in every continent, in thirty-one languages, and have been bestsellers worldwide. In total, they have sold over twenty-five million copies.
Shan's vampire saga ran to 12 novels, made up of 4 trilogies - The Vampire Blood Trilogy, The Vampire Rites Trilogy, The Vampire War Trilogyand The Vampire Destiny Trilogy, and spawned the spin-off series, The Saga of Larten Crepsley. This was then followed by his 10-part demon series The Demonata.
