Warhammer 40,000 (aka Warhammer 40K or just 40K) is a tabletop miniature wargame in a science fantasy setting produced by Games Workshop. Warhammer 40,000 was created by Rick Priestley in 1987 as the futuristic companion to Warhammer Fantasy Battle, sharing many of the same game mechanics with periodic expansion sets. The Warhammer 40,000 setting is used for several tabletop games, video games, and works of fiction, including licensed works published by Black Library, a subsidiary of Games Workshop.
Dan Abnett lives and works in Maidstone, Kent, in England. Well known for his comic work, he has written everything from the Mr Men to the XMen in the last decade. Dan Abnett made his name in the tie-in SF and Fantasy fiction field, selling more than 1.2 million copies in English language of his Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 novels for Games Workshop's Black Library imprint. They've also been translated into ten other languages. He's also recently made the UK fiction charts with original Torchwood and Doctor Who novels. His comicbook scripts, for major publishers such as Marvel, DC Comics and the UK's 2000 AD, have attracted critical plaudits and strong sales on both sides of the Atlantic. His work for the Black Library includes the popular strips Lone Wolves, Titan and Darkblade, the best-selling Gaunts Ghosts novels, and the acclaimed Inquisitor Eisenhorn trilogy.
Titanicus is one of the titles that share the setting of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, and detailing a Titan Legion's struggles against Chaos invaders and internal schism alike on the Forge World of Orestes. Although not linked with the Sabbat crusade, a man from Tanith features briefly.
Black Library's best-selling SF author Dan Abnett takes his talents to a whole new level recounting an epic tale of Titans, the massive war machines of Warhammer 40,000.
"When the vital forge world of Orestes comes under attack by a legion of Chaos Titans, the planet is forced to appeal for help. Titan Legio Invicta, although fresh from combat and in desperate need of refit and repair, responds, committing its own force of war engines to the battle. As the god-machines stride to war, the world trembles, for the devastation they unleash could destroy the very world they have pledged to save.
Savage Titan action on an apocalyptic scale and dark political intrigue meet head-on in this Warhammer 40,000 epic."
'Abnett takes an ingenious idea and produces a nail-biting tale that has serious things to say about war and the news media.' - Eric Brown, The Guardian
'The cinematic scope and dizzying vision we're shown puts most recent SF movie epics into deep shadow.' - SF Site
