Constantine FitzGibbon THROUGH THE MINEFIELD First Edition Signed

First edition, first print hardback of THROUGH THE MINEFIELD by Constantine FitzGibbon and published by The Bodley Head in 1967. Signed and dated by FitzGibbon on the front endpaper.

The book is in very good condition (brown cloth boards with gold lettering to spine) with very light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine and fading to the top and bottom of the front and back boards. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket that has light creasing to the top and bottom of the spine and front and back covers. There are two one inch closed tears to the front top and bottom corners of the spine and one on the bottom edge on the front cover, along with one on the bottom spine corner of the back cover. The two inner flaps have light creasing too. Internally, the front endpaper and pages have small dents in addition to being lightly tanned but tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Through the Minefield covers the period of the author's life that ended with the end of the Second World War. Of it he himself says: 'If it is in some measure an evocation of that age, this is merely fortuitous'. It is essentially the study of an individual by the heir to that individual's body and mind, fantasies and traumas.
