First US edition first print hardback of BILL DOOLIN: OUTLAW O.T. by Colonel Bailey C. Hanes and published by University of Oklahoma Press in 1968. Introduction by Ramon F Adams. Signed by Hanes on the title page. Uncommon signed.

The book is in very good condition (marble look grey cloth boards with gilt lettering on black label to spine) with minor creasing to the top and bottom of the spine. The book is in a very good price-clipped dust jacket which has light rubbing to the edges and in an irremovable protective sleeve. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

A former cowboy in Oklahoma Territory, a rogue with a Robin Hood quirk, called "King of the Oklahoma Outlaws" by Marshal Bill Tilghman - Bill Doolin served an apprenticeship in what was to be his chosen profession as a member of the Dalton gang. After the fiasco at Coffeyville in 1892, when all the Daltons but one were killed while trying to rob two banks simultaneously, Doolin gathered together the remnants of previous bandit packs and made them his own. These wild characters went on to rob trains, loot banks and otherwise thumb their noses at harrassed US marshals for the next four years until Doolin was killed by a heavy shotgun blast from ambush.
