Christopher Creighton OP.JB First Edition

First edition first print hardback of OP.JB (The Last Great Secret of the Second World War) by Christopher Creighton and published by Simon & Schuster in 1996.

The book is in very good condition (black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with light bumping to the corners. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the edges. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.

Millions of words have been written about the fate of Martin Bormann, Hitler's indispensable private secretary, and head of the Nazi Party Chancellery, who vanished at the end of the Second World War. In October 1946 the most-wanted Nazi war criminal was condemned to death in absentia at Nuremberg, but he was never found or brought to justice.

Christopher Creighton reveales for the first time exactly what happened to Bormann. At the end of the war, as the Soviets closed in on Berlin, Bormann was taken to England by a Commando raiding party, led by Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond, and Creighton. The operation had the backing of both Churchill and Roosevelt and resulted in as much as 95% of Nazi funds being recovered and restored to their former owners.
