Charles MacKinnon THE OBSERVER'S BOOK OF HERALDRY 1968

1968 Reprint hardback of THE OBSERVER'S BOOK OF HERALDRY by Charles MacKinnon of Dunakin and published by Frederick Warne & Co. Ltd., London in 1968. The Observer's pocket series No.41. With 12 plates in full colour and 118 line drawings.

The book is in good condition (Clean red boards and yellow lettering on spine and front which has minor creasing to the spine edges) with only slight wear to the dust jacket, which is protected with irremovable brodart and double clipped but with the price crossed out with pen and both corners of the front flaps diagonally cut (slight rubbing to the corners, and some tanning). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. There is slight tanning mark on the front end paper and slight foxing in parts to the page ends.

This book is a concise survey of Heraldry in Great Britain, beginning with its purpose and history, and describing its present state. For the most part it is devoted to the rules of Heraldry which will provide reliable groundwork for the student who is new to the subject. Heraldry is part of our heritage and studying this work the reader will be deeply aware of the dignity and usefulness of the coat of arms. There are numerous line drawings throughout the text and twelve colour plates. This book is fully indexed.
