First edition first print hardback of BIGGLES BREAKS THE SILENCE by Captain W. E. Johns and published by Hodder & Stoughton Limited in 1949.The book is in very good condition (green cloth boards with silver lettering to spine and illustration to front) with light creasing to the bottom of the spine and age spotting to the page edges. A couple of pages have rough cut edges. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing to the top of the front cover, top and bottom of the spine and bottom of the back cover. It looks like someone has written the book's title and author using a ball point pen without ink, the writing can be felt when one runs a finger over the front cover. There is a fingernail closed tear to the bottom of the back cover. Internally the pages are lightly age tanned but clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
