First edition first print hardback of SUBSUNK (The Story of Submarine Escape) by Capt. W. O. Shelford (including Foreword by Rear-Admiral B. W. Taylor) and published by George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd in 1960.The book is in very good condition (blue cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with no more than very light wear. Tiny bit of writing to back board. The book is in a very good unclipped dust jacket which has very light rubbing here and there. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears.
Subsunk is a story of successful escapes from submarines - not of disasters. Men escaped from sunken submarines as long ago as 1851, and have been doing so ever since. In this book the factual records of these escapes, collected from twenty-one navies of the world, are told and analysed by the author.
