First edition, first print hardback of BRITISH RAIL ALBUM NO 1 THE NORTH AND EAST, by J. H Cooper-Smith and published by Ian Allan Ltd., Surrey in 1975.The book is in very good condition (Clean black cloth boards with gold lettering on spine), with minor wear to the dust jacket which is not price clipped (light creasing to the edges and back, minor rubbing to the corners, a fingernail closed tear to the top corner at the back and a thumbnail open tear to the top corner of the spine). Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions.

Though this volume, ' North and East', broadly covers former ex-LNER territory, it has also been convenient to include in it coverage of such routes as Leeds-Manchester and Settle-Carlisle that in recent years have been travelled by locomotives based in the East and North Eastern regions."
