Information
First edition second print hardback of TAKE IT LIKE A MAN (The Autobiography of Boy George) by George O'Dowd (with Spencer Bright) and published by Sidgwick & Jackson in 1995. Signed and inscribed to a previous owner by Boy George on the front endpaper in his characteristic scrawl. Numberline reads: 3 5 7 9 8 6 4 2. Includes a promotional postcard for the then upcoming new album: Cheapness and Beauty.

The book is in very good condition (black cloth boards with white lettering to spine) with some general wear (bumping to top corner of front board, two small 'bubbles' near the top of the front board, nothing at all drastic). The book is in a very good- unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing here and there, but with heavier creasing at the top of the spine, and a fingernail closed tear to the top front edge. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.

Take it Like a Man tells the story of the craziness of the highs and lows of Boy George's life and career (up to 1995), the family struggles, bully boys and transvestites, friends, lovers and an obsessive media infatuation. Culture Club had gone into eclipse. His hushed-up relationship with drummer Jon Moss had fallen apart. George had found a new obsession - drugs. The tragic deaths of two close friends and two drug convictions had brought shame and despair. George O'Dowd went through the agony of withdrawal, and re-evaluated his life. He found a new peace and sharpened creativity. It is an unfinished journey.
