Stewart Blacker's inventions made a significant contribution to victory in both World Wars. During The Great War he led the team that developed the synchronised machine gun, which was able to fire through the propeller of allied fighter planes. Prior to the Second World War he designed the PIAT anti tank weapon that was used with dramatic effect during WW2 from Normandy until the end of the war.
