Alun Llewellyn THE SOUL OF CEZAR AZAN First Edition 1938 Signed Dated Hardback
First edition first print hardback of THE SOUL OF CEZAR AZAN by Alun Llewellyn and published by Arthur Barker in 1938. Signed and dated to a previous owner by Llewellyn (and one other, possibly his wife?) on the front endpaper.
The book is in very good condition (mauve cloth boards with black lettering to spine) with light general age-related wear and a little age spotting to the front page edges. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket which has sundry small chips to the edges and a centimetre closed tear to the front bottom edge. Internally, the pages are otherwise clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
The story of a bullfighter. Not the sort we all know - the successful matador in the crowded arenas of Spain - but a little hanger-on to a travelling troupe of bullfighters in Provence. Despite being unwanted in most matters, he still manages his own small triumph - and the ending is really dramatic.
