Alfred Tack THE TOP STEAL First Edition Signed Hardback 1968 Suspense Novel
First edition first print hardback of THE TOP STEAL by Alfred Tack and published by John Long in 1968. Inscribed to a previous owner, signed and dated by Tack on the front endpaper.
The book is in very good condition (brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine) with light general wear. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket which is protected in an archival sleeve and has creasing and rubbing to edges and corners, fraying to the head and tail of the spine and some moisture staining to the bottom corner of the rear cover, as pictured. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
The Duke Electronics empire is on the verge of collapse; troubles have built up in the computer field and the company's financial backers are threatening to depose Sir Charles Duke, the founder and chairman. Duke has three months to find three million pounds. A chance meeting with a burglar leads Duke to plan a fool-proof large-scale robbery - the theft of the Porthore Collection, loaned to the London Museum of World Art by the Indian Government. The ending to this fast-moving suspense novel is as unexpected to Duke as it will be to the reader.
