The book is in very good condition (blue cloth boards with gold lettering to spine and small gold motif to front cover) with light general wear (couple of small stains to front page edges). The book is in a very good- unclipped dust jacket which has light creasing here and there and a tiny piece missing from the bottom corner of the spine. Still very presentable. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears or other inscriptions.
Sir Alec Rose (1908-1991) was an English businessman who developed a passion for amateur single-handed sailing. He took part in the second single-handed Atlantic Race in 1964 and circumnavigated the globe single-handedly in 1967-68, for which he was knighted. His boat was named the 'Lively Lady'. Although he did not come from a wealthy background and had no sponsor, he still managed to achieve his ambition.
193 pages including Appendices. Illustrated with black & white and colour photographs, maps and drawings.
