Agatha Christie POSTERN OF FATE First American Edition 1973 Dodd Mead

First USA edition first print hardback of POSTERN OF FATE by Agatha Christie and published by Dodd, Mead & Company in 1973. Red sprayed top page edges.

The book is in good condition (quarterbound red cloth boards with silver plate to spine) with light rubbing to edges and corners and age staining to fore and bottom page edges. The spine is slightly weakened. The book is in a good unclipped dust jacket which has creasing and rubbing to edges and corners, three closed tears to the top and bottom edges of the front cover, a long folding crease down the length of the front inner flap and a little staining to the inside lower edges of the jacket. Internally the pages are clean and tight and there are no inscriptions.

Tommy and Tuppence Beresford have just become the proud owners of an old house in an English village. Along with the property, they have inherited some worthless bric-a-brac, including a collection of antique books. While rustling through a copy of The Black Arrow, Tuppence comes upon a series of apparently random underlinings. However, when she writes down the letters, they spell out a very disturbing message.
