Agatha Christie DESTINATION UNKNOWN First Edition 1954

First edition, first print hardback of DESTINATION UNKNOWN by Agatha Christie and published by Collins (for The Crime Club) in 1954. Previous owner bookplate attached to front pastedown.

The book is in good condition (red cloth boards with black lettering to spine) with rubbing to top edges, creasing to the top and bottom of the spine and light bumping to the corners of the back board. The unclipped dust jacket is in fair condition with heavy age tanning, rubbing to the edges and large open tears to the corners of the front and back covers and top and bottom of the spine. Internally, the pages are tanned with age spotting and soiling to the page edges but are tight and there are no tears or inscriptions.

In this, her new and brilliant book, Agatha Christie has departed from the canons of classical detection, as she did in They Came to Baghdad.

The authentic Moroccan setting of this book and its exciting and surpirsing narrative will hold every reader enthralled. It is full of those sudden, ingenious twists and that brilliant though seemingly casual power of characterisation, for which Agatha Christie is so justly renowned.
