No. Advertising is not necessary, because after a short while your products should begin to appear fairly high up in the search engines (you can easily monitor this by googling any keywords relating to your products and see where they come up in search results). Of course, you are free to advertise if you wish, but we certainly do not advertise any of our own products because Google already ranks them very well.

That's a very good question. The answer is: it depends. If you have a collectable item then the chances are you will be able to sell it. If you have an item that is in demand (without necessarily being collectable) then the chances are you will be able to sell it. If your item is well described, in good condition (doesn't have to be new) and competitively priced then the chances are it will sell. In other words, if there is a market for your items, and you are professional with your listings and your service, then you have a very good chance of selling them.
