First edition, first print hardback of A HUNTING MAN'S RAMBLES, by Stanislaus Lynch, illustrated by Tom Carr and published by George Ronald, Oxford in 1951.
The book is in good condition with light wear to the red cloth boards (one small nick to ridge of spine, bumping to corners, lettering to spine faded). There is no dust jacket. Internally, the pages are clean and tight and there are no tears and no inscriptions. Slightly warped boards.
Starting in County Wicklow, "a rambler's paradise," Stanislaus Lynch takes us across Ireland exploring the different counties and their individual hunts, such as Cork, which has more packs of foxhounds, harriers, draghounds, otterhounds and footbeagles than any other county in Ireland. He meets the Dunhallow Hounds and joins the Sean Peel Hunt, takes part in a drag-hunt, goes along to a gymkhana and shares many anecdotes and stories relating to hounds and the pleasure of the hunt.
188 pages, illustrated with six line drawings.
